Who We Help

Our project supports domain name holders who need guidance in navigating disputes under the Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy (UDRP). We assist individuals, small businesses, nonprofit organizations, entrepreneurs, and website owners facing problems involving the registration, use, transfer, or defense of their domain names.

Was Your Domain Stolen?

Domain theft, unauthorized transfers, and domain hijacking are increasingly common. If your domain name was transferred without your authorization, stolen through account compromise, or registered by someone acting in bad faith, you may have legal options to recover it.

Our team can help you understand the available procedures, including UDRP complaints and other dispute resolution mechanisms that may apply to your situation.

What Is Cybersquatting?

Cybersquatting occurs when someone registers or uses a domain name that is identical or confusingly similar to a trademark, business name, or personal name in order to profit from it unfairly.

The UDRP provides an international dispute resolution process that is generally faster and less expensive than court litigation. Through this procedure, domain name holders may request the transfer or cancellation of abusively registered domain names.

How We Can Help — Free Legal Guidance

Many domain name holders do not have access to specialized legal assistance when facing a UDRP complaint or when they need to initiate one. Our university legal clinic helps reduce that gap by providing free educational and legal guidance through professors and law students trained in Internet law, intellectual property, and domain name disputes.

Our assistance may include:

Important Information About Fees

Our assistance (including case review, legal guidance, and support in preparing submissions) is provided entirely free of charge.

However, official UDRP dispute resolution providers, such as the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), Forum, or the Asian Domain Name Dispute Resolution Centre (ADNDRC), charge administrative filing fees that must be paid directly by the party initiating the complaint. These fees are established by each provider and are not covered by our project.

We can help you understand these costs and procedures as part of our guidance.
